Objectives

 

The objective of the big data access working group is to facilitate public access to power systems data to promote big data research and development. The current efforts can be categorized into the following 4 groups:

• Identification of the type, resolution, and volume of the power system data that is needed to support different types of big data research and development activities in power systems.
• Identification and classification of power system data that is already available to the public and can support big data research; and presenting them in an organized fashion in one database.
• Identification of the challenges and concerns in sharing the type of data that is needed to support big data research but is not shared by the organizations that collect and process the data.
• Identification and classification of data masking and other solutions that can address the identified concerns in Task 3 and work with the data owning organizations to use them.
